Nick Irwin

Associate - Cohort 002

Nick Irwin is fascinated by developing innovative solutions to roadblocks in everyday life. He considers “Why?” “How?” and “When?”

Even before joining Normal>Next as a summer associate, he had a strong commitment to improving the world around him through smart cities, employing cognitive neuroscience and artificial intelligence to business challenges and social environments.

He currently attends Dartmouth College, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minor in Hispanic Studies. He is a member of the men’s rugby team and co-hosts a weekly radio show on current events.

Research experiences at Dartmouth have motivated him to explore how leading-edge innovations can remodel urban environments, including how 5G inter-vehicular networks will transform self-driving car technology. This led to studying how social dynamics, accessibility, artificial intelligence, and legal theory will affect future communities.

At a Maryland Montessori school, he taught and cared for the children of homeless families. With a group of 15 young people from around the country, he studied personal greenhouse gas emissions and applied conventional philosophy to the moral obligation to vote green.

At St. Albans School in Washington D.C., Irwin graduated Cum Laude. As part of the St. Albans School of Public Service, he spent a summer meeting Supreme Court justices and members of Congress, analyzing pressing public policy issues. He also worked in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico at the Centro Bilingüe volunteering at orphanages and taking Spanish classes.

He once competed in the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames England, reminding him to take the long view on the world in front of us today.
