Associate - Cohort 005

Alex Brathwaite creates innovative ways people and organizations can be safe and resilient in a fast-changing world. He has a passion for human rights, social justice, and environmental issues. As an associate with Normal Next, Brathwaite is directly involved in creating a safe online community for health equity leaders and developing a resiliency framework for the Northeast Florida Regional Council to better help cities adapt to flooding and sea-level rise.

He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security from Embry-Riddle Aeronautics University on the space coast in Florida. A graduate of Suncoast High School with an International Baccalaureate degree, Brathwaite obtained green school certification from his heavy involvement in the school’s Environmental Association as an environmental ambassador. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in human resilience and security.

At Embry-Riddle Brathwaite was heavily involved in student government as well as the housing and residence life department where he was a resident advisor for nearly three years, promoting a positive living environment for hundreds of students. He served as director of finance and parliamentary procedure with the Resident Student Association and with the Environmental Awareness Committee he was instrumental in the campus-wide rollout of recycling bins.

At Delta Air Lines, Brathwaite interned in the corporate safety, security, and compliance department where he focused on intelligence analysis, corporate security, and security operations. He will be rejoining Delta this summer in a full-time role.

He is an avid outdoorsman who is PADI certified and enjoys scuba diving, relishes the opportunity to visit destinations around the world, and enjoys hiking throughout America’s national and state parks. When not adventuring, he enjoys rounds of board games with his friends and cooking delicious meals.
